  Checklist

1.  Nationwide, we expect approximately 75 funded slots. The scheduled program date for this year is 6 - 9 November 2011.

2.  Normally, an application is not accepted from a school that has had an HSEP visit in the past 4 years. (Refer to the attached list of Area 432 Educator Visits in Past Four Years).

3. An applicant may be a High School Counselor, Teacher or Administrator.  Try to encourage an Educator that most directly works with college applicants.

4.  After an application is submitted to RROX, the Academy handles the complete notification and registration process directly with the candidate.

5.  A successful visit is closely related to the ALO's continuous contact and encouragement with their selected Educator.

6.  Each visit is a 4 day event.  Departure will be on a Sunday with the return on Wednesday morning.

7.  Educator Qualifications:  (a) Has never attended an HSEP visit.  (b) Only one nomination is accepted from each school. (c) Must not be within 3 years of retirement.  (d) The visit can be physically demanding due to the high altitude (+7,000) and lots of walking.  If you suspect any health problems, it would be wise to suggest that the Educator consult with their doctor.

8.  Non-Selects:  If desired by the Educator, a non-selected app may be "banked" by RROX for consideration in next year's program.

9.  Applications:  Because of the numbers received by RROX, an app must be complete.  For this reason, please send all apps to Major Ken Lantagne for review (and correction, if needed).  Afterward, the apps will be forwarded to RROX.  Apps may be received by phone, email, mail, or by use of the "Online Lead" method in the NETEXALO website.  This may be used by the ALO or the Educator. This is a convenient and accurate method.

10. Expenses:  The Academy arranges and pays for airline travel.  The Educators are put on government orders and will be paid a total per diem amount of approximately $231 for meals.  The Educators will need to pay for their meals upfront, and after completion of the orientation, they will be paid the per diem amount.  RROX arranges for the hotel accomodations, at a very good rate, but the Educator is responsible for making reservations and paying for lodging costs.  The approximate cost for lodging is approximately $290 for three nights.  Exact lodging information will be sent to each Educator with the invitation/registration package.

10. If you have any questions or need assistance in contacting your Educator, please contact Ken Lantagne.
